Business Cup 2022 - The Miracle of Tornesch

On 19.06.2022, two RAEDER-VOGEL teams, in top form, took part in the company football tournament "Businesscup 2022".

With 20 players and three assistants, we had a first-class team at the event. Thanks to the numerous spectators and their families from our staff, RAEDER-VOGEL was able to cause a sensation: every goal scored was cheered loudly and the players were encouraged through the tournament. It was a successful day for all participants.

On the pitch, the commitment and enthusiasm of our players was clearly noticeable. However, one thing has to be said beforehand: Contrary to what the title of this report suggests, RAEDER-VOGEL was unfortunately not able to take first place and thus the winner's trophy to Wilhelmsburg - but they were on a pretty good path!

While the team "RAEDER-VOGEL 1" unfortunately could not win any of its matches against the strong opponents in the group phase, the team "RAEDER-VOGEL 2" also failed to win the first three group matches. Entry into the quarter-finals seemed out of the question, especially as they would have had to win the last group game with a six-goal difference. Almost nobody expected "RAEDER-VOGEL 2" to make it to the quarter-finals, the challenge seemed too great. But the team pulled itself together and prepared intensively for the game. Last but not least, our goalkeeper kept RAEDER-VOGEL in the game with his brilliant saves. Our goal scorer also played a significant role in the final result of the fourth and decisive group match. And despite having to play the game for about three out of ten minutes with one man less due to a sending-off, the final result was phenomenal and unbelievable: 6:0 for "RAEDER-VOGEL 2" - this was the miracle of Tornesch.

In the quarter-finals that followed, it was once again extremely difficult: the team had to play against a group winner. The physically robust opponents presented themselves strongly and put everything on the line, as did "RAEDER-VOGEL 2". Despite all their efforts and the valiant efforts of our players, they had to admit defeat against the eventual tournament winners with a score of 4:1.

However, this result should in no way diminish the previously masterful performances of all our players: Everyone showed full commitment and was passionate about what they were doing!

Although none of our teams made it onto the winners' podium, we were still able to receive a trophy. The top performance of our goalkeeper was honoured by the tournament organizers with the award for "Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament".

We are proud of our colleagues and of the great teamwork that was demonstrated once again.
