Where are they running? At the Skyline Run in Hamburg
The golden October lived up to its name this year, and so we were hopeful that the weather would also play along on Sunday 20 October, when 8 colleagues took on the challenge of the 8th Skyline Run on the Energieberg.
Formerly a nasty landfill site, the "Energieberg" energy mountain is now known above all for its breathtaking views of Hamburg city centre and the exciting flora and fauna 364 days a year. For the past eight years, the mountain has - literally - been calling one day a year: anyone who has grown tired of running on flat ground can look forward to the now legendary Skyline Run in Hamburg-Georgswerder.
This year, our 8 colleagues took on the main 5.4-kilometre race and were cheered on by the whole team. The ‘Quickie’, the cheeky name for the new stair sprint, also met with great approval from participants and spectators alike. It was a great idea by the organisers to include the 1.2-kilometre-long staircase up the Energieberg with its 40-metre difference in elevation as an extra! Incidentally, three ‘RAEDER-VOGEL junior athletes’ also took part in this year's children's run, covering a distance of 900 metres.
We would like to express our absolute respect for all participants - but we have always known that at RAEDER-VOGEL it's not just the wheels that run absolutely smoothly!
