1st place for our energy scouts

No question, our apprentices are ready. And, of course, there are potential processes in our company which could be improved, made more energy-efficient and more climate-friendly. Two of our apprentices set themselves exactly this task - and with their project, in the IHK competition "Energy Scouts", scored first place Hamburg-wide.

"Energie-Scouts" is a program of the Chambers of Industry and Commerce within the framework of the SME "Initiative Energy Transition and Climate Protection". It was founded in 2013 with the aim of empowering the next generation to identify, document and encourage improvements in energy-saving potential.

Our two trainees Sören Harders ("industrial mechanic" apprentice) and Fabienne Resener ("industrial clerk" trainee) took part in the workshops of the IHK Hamburg and gained knowledge and skills on topics such as energy efficiency and generation, communication and project work. Then they put it into practice: Together, they worked out a plan on how to save considerable amounts of energy and costs in Plant 2 by reducing compressed air losses. According to a preliminary performence test, the savings amounted to several thousand euros per year in energy costs and over 27.000,00 kg per year in CO2 emissions.

We congratulate our two award-winning thrifty energy-savers Sören Harders and Fabienne Resener. For them, it´s off to Berlin in 2020, where the best projects of all the chambers off commerce on a federal level go head to head. For us, this success is only the beginning of future projects with trainees in the field of energy savings, because, as a company, we want to make aware and show our long therm commitment to this theme.
